Angel di Maria ready for Alexis Sanchez battle against Arsenal

Manchester United’s club record signing is ready to face a familiar foe when his side take on Arsenal for a place at Wembley on Monday night.

United host Arsene Wenger’s men with the winner proceeding to the FA Cup semi-finals and if Louis van Gaal‘s side win on the night it will be the first time they have reached the final four since 2011.

Di Maria will once again come up against fellow South American Alexis Sanchez on Monday night with the pair continuing a rivalry they began at Spanish giants Real Madrid and Barcelona respectively.

Whilst both exploded on to the Premier League scene, Alexis has continued his good form whilst personal issues and a lack of form has hampered Di Maria but the Argentine is more than ready for Monday’s clash.

Speaking to the club’s official website about Sanchez, Di Maria said: “Sanchez is a player who has been in some great form this season and since he came to Arsenal he hasn’t stopped scoring or creating goals.

“He’s been tremendous and seems to be the key player for Arsenal. When he plays well, they seem to play well too. We’ve seen him in various games. If he gets hold of the ball and does what he can with it, then that works well for Arsenal.

“We have to keep a close eye on him and try to prevent him from creating openings with his passing as we know that every time he gets to run at you he can create danger.”

The 27-year-old certainly doesn’t sound like a man who’s preparing for a future away from Old Trafford, despite putting his house up for sale this week after a burglary that took place last month.

Both players had similar records in the El Clasico where they scored two goals each but it was Di Maria who came out on top in their first meeting on English soil, setting up Wayne Rooney as Louis van Gaal‘s men won 2-1 at the Emirates back in November. Fans will be hoping for an equally as influential performance tonight at Old Trafford.
