The 23-year-old Brazilian will join the club in the summer on a six year deal up until 2021 and give the current European champions another top quality right-back alongside Dani Carvajal.
A statement from Real Madrid read as follows: “Real Madrid CF and FC Porto have reached an agreement for the transfer of the player Danilo, that next season will join and be bound to the club until June 30 2021.”
Manchester United had previously sent scouts to watch Danilo in action prior to his move but nothing materialised and Louis van Gaal will be looking elsewhere for a new right-back.
It’s a position where van Gaal certainly needs to strengthen because Rafael’s on-going fitness issues mean he cannot be relied on all year round and Antonio Valencia simply isn’t a right-back.
Last summer was all about Man United in the transfer window and with big changes in and out of Old Trafford expected this year, United will no doubt be one of the busiest clubs once again.
