Juventus director Pavel Nedved believes Barcelona will attempt to sign Paul Pogba once their transfer embargo is lifted next year.
Pogba has been linked with a number of top European clubs this season including Manchester United, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain, as well as Barcelona.
Nedved seemed to acknowledge that Juventus will eventually lose Pogba after admitting that Barcelona and several other big clubs were interested in him.
Speaking about Pogba’s future, Nedved said: “We know that Barça and other big clubs want him. But Pogba has a contract with us.
“We lose a lot without him. He is a footballer with an enormous quality but we cannot cry about it. We have a great roster that can overcome his loss.”
Juventus are currently without Pogba after the 22-year-old was ruled out of action for two months following a hamstring injury.
Nedved seems resigned to losing Pogba and his comments will encourage van Gaal in his pursuit of him.
Although the purchase of Pogba would take a sizeable chunk out of United’s transfer budget, fans would be delighted to see him return to the club he left in 2008. He is a world-class player and one that United will need if they are to challenge for the Premier League title next season.
