Jose Mourinho: Manchester United’s squad is ‘amazing’

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has insisted Manchester United have an “amazing” squad ahead of the meeting between the two sides on Saturday.

Man United would have been in confident mood heading into the game at Stamford Bridge but a raft of injuries have threatened to derail their six-game winning streak.

Michael Carrick, Marcos Rojo, Phil Jones and Daley Blind are all injured while Jonny Evans is also suspended for the game.

However, Mourinho believes United can cope without them thanks to Louis van Gaal’s “fantastic” ability to nurture young talent.

When asked if United are weakened by injuries, Mourinho said: ”I disagree. Their squad is amazing. Every week, on a big screen, I have their squad and all their options. I realise what they have and it’s amazing. Van Gaal is fantastic at developing kids.”

It is a nice sentiment from Mourinho but he will be secretly delighted that so many of United’s players will miss the match.

United are the form team in the Premier League right now and the likes of Carrick and Blind played a huge part in that. The fact that Wayne Rooney may have to drop into midfield as a result will be particularly pleasing for Mourinho as it should give Cesc Fabregas and Nemanja Vidic an easier time in the middle of the park.
