Manchester United have today agreed a deal to sign Memphis Depay from PSV.
The Premier League season hasn’t even finished yet but Ed Woodward and Louis van Gaal have managed to push the deal over the line and make sure Depay is coming to Old Trafford.
It really is a fantastic piece of business by Man United. Depay is a genuine goalscoring threat from the wings (as shown by his 21 Eredivisie goals this season) and with bags of pace to burn, he’s the perfect winger for Van Gaal to use in his favourite 4-3-3 formation.
United were always considered favourites to sign Depay because of his previous relationship with Van Gaal but few would have expected a deal to be finalised so early this year.
The only thing that is left to do is for Depay to travel to Manchester to undergo a medical and although the official unveiling of Depay won’t happen until the summer, only a medical stands in between him and completing his move to United!
