Nicky Butt and Ryan Giggs have asked Louis van Gaal if he can play some youngsters in Manchester United’s last game of the season against Hull City, so long as a Champions League spot has already been secured.
Daily Mail suggests both Giggs and Butt want to give some of the younger players an opportunity which they haven’t been able to get since the turn of the year.
It was Giggs who gave James Wilson his Premier League debut last season against Hull in the final game and the youngster scored twice in what was a memorable 3-1 win for him.
Now, Man United’s assistant manager is keen to repeat that feat if Champions League football is secured this weekend in the game against Arsenal.
If United have secured a top four spot by the Hull game, there shouldn’t be a problem at all in playing some of the younger lads so long as the team remains competitive, otherwise the Premier League wouldn’t be too happy.
With the likes of Wilson and potentially Ben Pearson or Tom Thorpe all waiting in the wings for an opportunity, what better way to blood them than in a Premier League match with the pressure off?
