Manchester United have today completed the signing of Ilias Moutha-Sebtaoii on a three-year deal.
The 16-year-old was offered a trial by Newcastle United but decided that Man United was the right place for him and follows in the footsteps of both Adnan Januzaj and Andreas Pereira who joined our academy from Belgium.
Joel Pereira has moved up to the U21s this season and although the likes of Ollie Byrne, George Dorrington and Dean Henderson in the U18s, there is always room for added competition, especially at that level as it will really help with their development.
Moutha-Sebtaoui becomes the 10th player to leave Standard Liege’s academy this season which is very unfortunate for the Belgian side but as is always the case, the best youngsters do tend to get snapped up earlier in modern football due to improved scouting systems.
When it comes to development, Carrington is a fantastic place to be for youngsters and the U21s being crowned Premier League champions this season for the second time in three years is a testament to that strong history of success throughout the club.
