Manchester United striker Radamel Falcao is officially on his way back to Monaco after his loan spell at the club ended yesterday.
United themselves confirmed Falcao’s loan wouldn’t be extended after the Hull City game, bringing to an end an unhappy spell for the once prolific striker at the club.
That reputation ensured there was still a buzz every time Falcao was on the pitch, even in the last home game against Arsenal, supporters were willing the striker on to succeed and show the talent he had before injury.
But on Monday morning, Falcao put an image of he and his wife on his Instagram account, showing them on a jet back to the South of France where he will explore his next potential move, with Monaco unable to afford to keep him.
Falcao managed just four goals in 29 games for United, but there were spells where it looked like the tide was changing for him. A goal and two assists in his first three starts made it look like the old Falcao was back, but he struggled to hold down a place in the team with Van Gaal chopping and changing formations regularly.
Three goals in a month around New Year brought new hope, but a return to 4-3-3 spelled the end of his run of form, and supporters are still sad to see him depart.
