Jose Mourinho has confirmed Radamel Falcao is on a shortlist of strikers Chelsea are considering making moves for this summer.
The Colombian striker endeared himself to Manchester United fans in his short period at the club and left a fans’ favourite despite the fact it was such a poor loan spell.
Immediately after being released by Louis van Gaal, Falcao was linked with a move to Chelsea and now the Daily Mail reports Falcao is on a five man shortlist as the London club is looking to replace Didier Drogba.
“We will be better,” Mourinho told the Sunday Times.
“I don’t see our team losing players. I don’t see our team losing our qualities, especially our mental, emotional approach to matches, to the season, to the competition.
“We have to buy a striker because we want to have three strikers of a good level.’ Of his shortlist, Mourinho added: ‘We do not want to have just one. Then you lose a good position on the negotiation table.”
Falcao looked like a broken man at Man United but fans are well aware that a strong Copa America with Colombia without any further injuries could see him get back towards his goalscoring best next season.
That’s why the thought of Falcao joining Chelsea leaves a sour taste in the mouth but although he is on a short-list, there is no guarantee Falcao will be calling Stamford Bridge home next season.
