Here’s the latest Manchester United transfer news and gossip.
Sergio Ramos continued to be a hot topic on Tuesday, with the latest reports about the Spaniard suggesting that Man United will offer Real Madrid €30m plus David de Gea for his services.
Although he is a world-class player, there is no way that United will pay that amount on top of giving Madrid one of their best players.
After all, De Gea’s best years are ahead of him while Ramos isn’t getting any younger. Ramos himself was non-committal about the potential transfer, only insisting that he is “always relaxed” when quizzed about it by Spanish journalists.
Elsewhere, The Times’ James Ducker has reported that Phil Jones is expected to sign a new four-year contract at United this week.
There are some fans who are still unconvinced by Jones but the player showed signs of improvement towards the end of last season. At 23-years-old, Jones has plenty of time to grow but patience may wear thin if he does poorly next term.
Finally, the agent of rumoured United target Ilkay Gundogan has suggested that the German could yet stay at Borussia Dortmund. Gundogan was heavily linked with a move to United last month but it appears the player may have been persuaded to remain at the Westfalenstadion.
