Manchester United transfer roundup: Real Madrid reject £32m bid for Sergio Ramos

Here is the latest Manchester United transfer news and gossip.

Man United made the first move in their pursuit of Real Madrid’s Sergio Ramos on Thursday, with reports from Spain suggesting that they had a £32m bid for the player rejected. The offer was said to be cash-only, with David de Gea not involved.

Spanish journalist Diego Torres claimed that Ramos is keen to leave Madrid and that the club are willing to let him go but it appears they are holding out for a larger fee from United.

In an exclusive interview, AS reporter Eduardo Fernandez revealed that Ramos doesn’t want to be included in a swap deal with De Gea as he is unhappy with the way Iker Casillas is being treated at Madrid.

Elsewhere, Liverpool have reportedly wrapped up a deal for Southampton’s Nathaniel Clyne. The Englishman had been heavily linked with a move to United but it appears that the club cooled their interest in recent weeks. Who they will go for instead remains to be seen.

The news about Clyne didn’t really surprise United fans but reports suggesting Saidy Janko is close to joining Celtic certainly came from nowhere. The youngster has reportedly visited Celtic’s training ground for transfer talks and a deal could well be agreed soon.

Finally, there were some murmurs regarding Angel di Maria and Bastian Schweinsteiger. Reports from the Spanish press suggested Barcelona are firming up their interest in Di Maria while L’Equipe claimed that United are preparing a €25m bid for Schweinsteiger.
