Ben Amos sends farewell message following Bolton Wanderers move

New Bolton Wanderers goalkeeper Ben Amos has sent a farewell message to Manchester United fans having completed his exit from the club.

Amos thanked Sir Alex Ferguson for everything which he did for him over his career and immediately looked ahead to the next chapter in his career at Bolton.

The goalkeeper came all the way through United’s academy to make seven senior appearances for Man United but the indomitable Edwin van der Sar and immovable David de Gea meant he found it very difficult to break through into the first-team.

Amos, 25, was released with other United players including Tom Thorpe and Tom Cleverley and forms part of another squad re-shuffle which Louis van Gaal is doing this summer.

Victor Valdes‘ subsequent arrival in Manchester was the final nail in the coffin for Amos, who from then seemed to resign himself to the fact that an Old Trafford breakthrough was probably unlikely.

Amos never stood out enough to suggest he could make it in the long-term as a United goalkeeper but he’s got more than enough ability to make it as a solid Championship level goalkeeper.

As with the departing Saidy Janko, we wish Amos the best of luck elsewhere.
