Manchester United duo Angel di Maria and Marcos Rojo‘s Argentina side suffered defeat in the Copa American final to Angelo Henriquez’s Chile side.
Henriquez came off the bench for Chile but was spared the pressure of taking a penalty in the shoot-out as Alexis Sanchez scored what was the winning one before the 22-year-old had to step up and take one himself.
It caps off what has been a superb 12 month for Henriquez. He won the double last season with Dinamo Zagreb and now he is a Copa America champion too.
However, it was a final to forget for Di Maria as he was taken off before the half hour mark with a suspected hamstring injury and although Rojo helped Argentina keep a clean sheet for the full two ours (including extra tine).
Fans are extremely excited to see what happens to Henriquez and whether he will get the opportunity to prove himself.
Henriquez has returned to Man United training which starts this week, so it will be interesting to see whether Louis van Gaal has any intention of giving the 22-year-old striker a chance in the first-team.
United are in need of a new No.9 from next season onwards and with Robin van Persie looking like he will be leaving as well, is now the time when Henriquez can make the big step up and take the No.9 shirt?
