Angelo Henriquez has completed a permanent move to Dinamo Zagreb from Manchester United.
The Chile international was widely expected to make the switch to the Croatian outfit after scoring 21 goals during a title-winning loan spell last term.
The 21-year-old, who was bought from Universidad de Chile in 2012, failed to make a single competitive appearance for Man United and instead spent time on loan with Wigan Athletic and Real Zaragoza with mixed results.
It is upsetting to hear of Henriquez’s departure as most United fans hold the youngster in high regard. There were some supporters who believed that with some hard work and determination the Chilean had a bright future ahead of him in Manchester.
However, with Louis van Gaal looking to bolster his squad in order to challenge for trophy’s next term, it seems that there was no room for Henriquez in the Dutchman’s plans. The decision may come back to haunt the United hierarchy as the player clearly demonstrated his ability last season for Zagreb.
If rumours are true and Robin van Persie and Javier Hernandez are set to leave, United would be left with just Wayne Rooney and James Wilson as their recognised strikers, something Louis van Gaal will be keen to avoid. In any case, everyone associated with United will want to wish Henriquez good luck in his future endeavours.
