David de Gea – In 2011, De Gea made his Manchester United debut in Chicago. In 2015, will he play his last ever game for the club?
Matteo Darmian – Without doubt he is now Man United’s first-choice right-back.
Phil Jones – Jones and Smalling are likely to start the season together in defence, unless a new signing is brought in.
Chris Smalling – Has come on leaps and bounds in the last 12 months hasn’t he?
Luke Shaw – Let’s hope he can continue his fine pre-season form against Paris St Germain.
Morgan Schneiderlin – Probably United’s first choice midfielder.
Bastian Schweinsteiger – Really want to see the Schweinsteiger/Schneiderlin partnership in action.
Ashley Young – Has started to build a good partnership with Shaw this summer.
Memphis Depay – Will more than likely play in the No.10 role.
Juan Mata – Not best suited to the right wing but it’s a position where United don’t have many options.
Wayne Rooney – United’s captain and one of the first names on the team sheet when fit.
Predicted formation: 4-2-3-1. Louis van Gaal has had a penchant for playing this formation on tour as with Schneiderlin, Carrick and Schweinsteiger in the team, he now has great options in defensive midfield.
It’s a formation which offers far more protection to a defence and that was something Van Gaal wanted to have last season, so there is every chance he’ll play with this formation next year.
