Manchester United midfielder Angel Di Maria is to undergo a medical with Paris Saint Germain.
BBC are reporting that Di Maria will then complete a £44.5m move to the French champions.
The Argentine has not appeared for Man United since the final day of last season against Hull and now seems all set to make the move to France.
After he failed to report for pre-season training in America, Di Maria has dealt with his situation in an extremely unprofessional manner and is expected be be fined by United.
Having signed for the Reds last summer in a British transfer record fee, he reiterated his desire to stay in Manchester earlier this summer but has now performed a complete U-turn which has understandably frustrated United fans.
Completion of the deal will put an end to a saga that has been running since midway through last season and could pave the way for United’s move for Barcelona winger Pedro.
Executive vice chairman of United, Ed Woodward, will be happy with a price of £44.5m for Di Maria given that their opening offer was under £30m less than 12 months after he was signed for £59.7m.
With less than a week to go until the start of the new season, Louis van Gaal will want to finalise his squad as soon as possible. As the Di Maria saga is now nearly over, attention will turn to David de Gea‘s future.
