Lyon are on the verge of completing a move for Manchester United defender Rafael, according to the Guardian.
The Brazilian is a fans’ favourite at Old Trafford but his adventurous style seems to be too risky for Louis van Gaal.
It is typical of the experienced Dutchman to prefer pragmatism over flair but it still hurts all the same.
Lyon will pay United up to £2.5m for Rafael’s services, which would appear to be criminally low at first glance.
However, he is an injury prone player with a year left on his contract. The fee is fair, although United might have squeezed a bit more out of the French side.
Rafael is still only 25-years-old and his best years are ahead of him. The hope for United fans is that he can resurrect his career at Lyon.
