Barcelona’s technical secretary, Robert Fernandez, has confirmed that Pedro Rodriguez has put in a transfer request but insists the player will not go for anything less than €30m.
Pedro was left out of the starting XI for Barcelona tonight for their Super Cup tie and it’s clear he is now actively pushing for a transfer to Manchester United.
Louis van Gaal has been pursuing Pedro ever since it came to light that Angel di Maria wanted to out of Man United and now that he has put in a transfer request, everything is in place for a deal to be agreed.
“Pedro asked us for the transfer,” he said.
“We are not going to accept less than €30m for him, it’s not negotiable.”
With a release clause of €30m and a transfer request by Pedro himself, the ball is now firmly in United’s court as the know full well that a bid of €30m is enough to secure him.
Ed Woodward has been very strong with his negotiations this summer for players and €30m (roughly £22m) would be another coup for somebody who will offer goals, experience and a real touch of class in attack.
