Manchester United dropping interest in Pedro was Louis van Gaal’s decision – report

Manchester United dropped their interest in Barcelona forward Pedro due to Louis van Gaal, according to MailOnline’s Mike Keegan.

In a dramatic series of events on Wednesday, Man United pulled out of the race to sign Pedro.

Chelsea are now the frontrunners to secure his signature and the player is reportedly in London ahead of a medical.

According to Keegan, it was van Gaal’s decision to end negotiations with Pedro:

If the claims are true, it really is a baffling decision from van Gaal. United had been interested for weeks and looked to be close to completing a deal. Why would United send Ed Woodward out to Spain if they weren’t in for him?

Perhaps United are just looking to save face as Pedro has simply rejected them. On the other hand, if van Gaal pulled out then maybe he has an alternative lined up. Reports on Tuesday suggested United have made a fresh €85m bid for Bayern Munich’s Thomas Muller.
