Danny Murphy: Pedro made right decision choosing Chelsea over Manchester United

Former Liverpool midfielder Danny Murphy believes that Pedro made the right decision in choosing Chelsea over Manchester United.

The Spanish international had agreed personal terms with Man United and was set to move to Manchester before Chelsea quickly swooped in.

Murphy believes that playing for Louis van Gaal might not have suited the former Barcelona player and that under Jose Mourinho he will play every week in a role that he enjoys.

“I’m not saying Louis van Gaal would have wasted money and sat him on the bench, but I bet he would have tweaked him and he would have had to play a certain way,” Murphy said.

Jose Mourinho 3

“At Chelsea he knows he is going to be playing in a system that Barca play and he has got a manager that gives you a run in the team.

“From a football perspective, Chelsea is a no-brainer.”

Pedro certainly has the kind of speed that will make him valuable in Jose Mourinho’s side but Juan Cuadrado and Mohammad Salah boasted a similar style of play and ultimately failed at the club.

However, Pedro’s pedigree at the highest level should make him a success at Stamford Bridge. To say that it is a ‘no-brainer’ is a tad short-sighted from Murphy but Pedro is no doubt a good signing for Mourinho.
