Pedro has explained that Chelsea’s desire to sign him and their speed in negotiations were the main factors behind his decision to join them.
Manchester United had led the way in negotiations for the Spaniard for weeks but failed to push the deal over the line because of cumbersome delays with negotiations about his buy-out clause.
Chelsea had no such problems in paying that fee up front to Barcelona and subsequently secured a deal for Pedro
“I’m grateful so many clubs were interested in me, such as Manchester United and City”, he said.
“Chelsea were the club that resolved the situation the quickest and who showed the most interest in me.”
Thank you for all what I lived and learnt in this club. Good luck and keep on the spell of success. pic.twitter.com/xNi3zxaGbK

It’s a sad state of affairs that slow negotiations over what was a very fair €30m price-tag was seemingly the reason behind Pedro’s move to Chelsea but Man United fans are now wondering whether an alternative will be signed before the window closes in September.
Sadio Mane is one player who could well be on his way to Old Trafford but he’s not at the same level as Pedro in terms of quality, so it would be a desperate move more than anything else to ensure United were not left empty handed.
There are so many players that United are linked with every summer, so not all of them can move but you do get the feeling that if Louis van Gaal and Ed Woodward are unable to bring in an adequate alternative this summer, the failure to sign Pedro could be something that come back to haunt them.
