Everton defender John Stones has submitted a formal transfer request in an attempt to leave the club this summer, according to the Telegraph.
Stones has been strongly linked with a move to Chelsea in recent weeks but Manchester United are also said to be keeping tabs on his situation.
The youngster is keen to join Chelsea and he informed Everton he wants to move to Stamford Bridge after submitting the transfer request before training on Tuesday afternoon.
Everton have turned down two bids from Chelsea for Stones this summer said to be in the region of £30m.
Rio Ferdinand has encouraged Stones to reject a move to Chelsea in order to join Uniteddd because he feels a bit-part role would await him if he joined the Champions.
Chelsea stole Pedro from under United’s nose earlier this month and Louis van Gaal would be wise to return the favour when it comes to Stones.
The 21-year-old is already a superb player and the sky really is the limit in terms of what he can achieve.
Daley Blind has performed admirably at centre-back for United so far this season but there is a question mark over whether he would be able to handle the top strikers in the Premier League. Stones would slot straight into United’s starting XI and would be more than capable of handling the pressure of playing for the club.
