BBC’s Matt Smith ‘pretty sure’ Manchester United will sign a new striker

BBC broadcaster Matt Smith is confident Manchester United are going to sign a new striker before the deadline closes on Tuesday.

Despite Wayne Rooney‘s return to form with a hat-trick against Club Brugge in midweek, everyone is well aware of Man United’s lack of fire-power up front.

A misfiring and thin on numbers attack is not what United need if they are to contend for the Premier League title this season and fans are keen to see a new striker signed this summer.

There isn’t much time left in the transfer window but will United be able to bring in somebody who could really boost their title push? The BBC’s Matt Smith seems to think so.

The problem isn’t money for United at the moment, thanks to the Adidas deals as well as multiple other sponsorships, but the issue is player availability, especially at this late stage.

Van Gaal would probably love to sign somebody like Thomas Muller but who wouldn’t? That’s the sort of player the United boss wants to sign, a world class player who can really add to the squad’s quality, but it’s almost implausible to think Bayern Munich will sell.

Have United got enough in attack to push for the Premier League title? Time will tell but in an ideal world, Matt Smith is correct and another striker will be signed within the next few days.
