Manchester United midfielder Joe Rothwell has been recalled from his loan spell at Barnsley due to suffering from tonsillitis.
We covered the news earlier this month that Rothwell had been ruled out of action and faced surgery to remove his tonsils.
It is now clear that the issue has not gone away and Rothwell will be bitterly disappointed at the latest setback of tonsillitis which is a problem that has plagued him in the last two years.

Rothwell suffered a bout of tonsillitis last year as well and the fact it is re-occurring means surgery looks like one of the most plausible outcomes for him if he wants to overcome the issue in the long-term.
At U21s level with Man United, Rothwell always looked comfortable and alongside Ben Pearson at Barnsley he was taking good strides to develop his career, but this setback will put another halt to that progress.
Surgery to his remove his tonsils seems to be the logical step forward from this because Rothwell won’t want it to cause any more problems again in the future, and we’ll keep you up to date on what he decides to do whenever there is an update.
