The Spaniard started in the No.10 role, despite only just returning from injury, and was one of the best players on the pitch as Man United dominated the first half.
Herrera got onto the end of a brilliant cross by Marcos Rojo to double United’s lead with a perfectly placed header. It was just reward for United’s performance as they were hugely impressive in the first 45 minutes.
The 26-year-old then managed to set up Wayne Rooney after the interval with a weighted pass in behind the defence to finish the game off. Herrera revealed his delight after the match:
This is the way we have to react after a defeat, very happy!//así se reacciona tras una derrota! Muy feliz ? pic.twitter.com/MKY0M9HQ3M

United fans are always happy to see Herrera in the starting lineup and after performances like the one against Everton, it is easy to see why. The former Athletic Bilbao man gave Louis van Gaal‘s men some much needed impetus as they pressed high on Everton’s defence and caused them plenty of problems.
It was a huge victory for United and a great performance, something that was desperately needed after the fiasco that occurred away at Arsenal before the international break. It was the perfect way to get their season back on track and hopefully the players can use the victory as a stepping stone to bigger and better things this season.
