Manchester United fans paid tribute to George Best during their side’s game with PSV Eindhoven on Wednesday to mark the tenth anniversary of the Northern Irishman’s death.
Supporters, while singing various songs about Best, held up lights from their mobile phones in the seventh minute.
Best, who singlehandedly made the No.7 shirt iconic at Old Trafford, scored 181 goals for the club. Most supporters present for the underwhelming draw against PSV never got the chance to witness Best at his finest; but, as shown tonight, his legendary status lives on at Man United.

Best was a magical player and his legacy will always be remembered at Old Trafford, as the show of support from the crowd on Wednesday showed.
And while United’s display on the pitch was wholly forgettable, the display of veneration from supporters, whose adoration of Best largely comes through sheer historical narrative rather than observational evidence, will live long in the memory.
