Manchester United are being linked to Atletico Madrid midfielder Saul Niguez.
Cadena Cope radio station in Spain say Man United are ready to sign Niguez for a €20m fee, preferably in the winter transfer window but if not then in the summer.
Last year, Man United were reportedly interested in Niguez but he went on to sign a new contract and speaking at the time, he made it clear how happy he was to be doing so.
“For me it means a lot to wear this shirt,” he said.
“I’ve been here for 12 years and the club have treated me very well. People have taken care of me from day one.
“For me, wearing this shirt and playing is the most beautiful thing there is.”
Now, with rumours resurfacing, it looks like a move for Niguez is back on the cards but he’s hardly the type of player who we desperately need to be going after at the moment.
Having played the majority of his games in central midfield this year, Niguez occupies a position which we are already pretty strong in. Louis van Gaal will be looking at right-wingers, a striker and a centre-back before he even entertains the idea of bringing in a new central midfielder.
That being said, that logic won’t stop Niguez from being linked to United and if Cadena Cope are to be believed, that interest could see us put in a €20m bid.
