Former Barcelona sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta has insisted that rumoured Manchester United target Neymar is “very, very, very happy” at the Catalan club.
Neymar was reportedly open to a move away from Barcelona amid his on-going investigation into alleged tax evasion.
There were rumours last summer that Man United had a big money bid for the Brazilian rejected in the latter stages of the transfer window. However, Zubizarreta, who was part of the Barcelona board that signed Neymar in 2013, rubbished suggestions he could leave.
“I believe Neymar is very happy at Barca. Very, very, very happy at Barca,” Zubizarreta said.
Neymar may well be set on staying at Barcelona but you would have thought that his contract negotiations would have been wrapped up by now had that been the case.
In any event, it is unlikely that he would want to move to United. Barcelona consistently challenge for trophies at the highest level while United are currently in turmoil amid suggestions that Louis van Gaal is on the brink of the sack.
