PSV Eindhoven have confirmed that Manchester United icon Ruud van Nistelrooy will join the coaching staff at the Dutch club from next season.
Van Nistelrooy will coach PSV’s strikers at U17 and U19 level, as well as in the reserve teams.
The 39-year-old had been fulfilling a role as assistant to the Holland manager Danny Blind but he will leave the position at the end of the campaign.
“I’m really looking forward to my new job at PSV, where I’m going to help the young attackers maximise their potential,” Van Nistelrooy said.
As a player, Van Nistelrooy established himself at PSV before moving on to Man United in 2001, where he scored 95 goals in 150 appearances over a five-year spell at Old Trafford.
He has rightly gone down as one of the greatest strikers that Man United have ever had and supporters will be watching on with interest to see how he gets on at PSV. Who knows, perhaps he will make the move back to United in a coaching capacity someday.
