Luis Suarez has insisted that Neymar will stay at Barcelona amid rumoured interest from Manchester United.
Neymar has had to deal with a tax fraud investigation from the Spanish authorities in recent months and the player’s father, who is also his agent, recently admitted the Brazilian could leave Barcelona if the problems persist.
Man United reportedly made an offer for Neymar in the summer which was rejected. However, Suarez moved to allay fans’ fears that the 23-year-old could leave the Nou Camp.
“I am convinced that Neymar will stay,” Suarez said.
“The club supports him and I am sure he will stay here for several years.”
Neymar has been in superb form for Barcelona this term but negotiations over a new contract are yet to come to a conclusion.
The situation will give United hope but it is hard to imagine Neymar leaving Barcelona, a team that consistently challenges for trophies at the highest level, for United. Louis van Gaal’s side are in a rebuilding stage and haven’t exactly impressed from an attacking point of view for the majority of the campaign.
