Manchester United target Antoine Griezmann has ended speculation suggesting he will leave Atletico Madrid this summer.
The 24-year-old has been in spectacular form for the Spanish side scoring 20 goals in 29 appearances this season which has led to a whole host of clubs, including Manchester United, getting linked with a move for him in the upcoming transfer window.
Atletico president Enrique Cerezo recently denied the possibility of the Frenchman leaving and stated “no-one has spoken to us about a possible transfer” and now Griezmann insisted he has no plans to leave and is happy with life in Spain.
He said: “I’m fine here, I’m at ease.
“I want to continue here and I think the club’s intention is not to sell, so I’m not going.”
Griezmann doesn’t want to leave the club and there is nothing so far to suggest Atletico want to cash in on their prize midfielder, so while that is the case it doesn’t look like he’ll be going anywhere unless a team is willing to put in an offer Atletico simply can’t refuse.
Over the years Atletico have sold some amazing players – Sergio Aguero, Radamel Falcao and Fernando Torres to name a few – but it is usually on their terms. So, if Griezmann is to leave the Spanish capital any time soon, a team will have to pay over the odds and persuade the Frenchman to move as well at the same time.
