Regan Poole enjoyed a solid debut for Manchester United on Thursday night in the 1-0 win over Manchester City.
Playing in defensive midfield, not the centre-back role we expected him to play as he was used there by Newport County, Poole was confident and composed in what was a big game against our City rivals.
Having had to wait from August 2015 to February 2016 in order for him to be given international clearance to play, Poole has had to be extremely patient but he showed against City that the wait was worth it.

The young defenders in the side were excellent – 3 U18s amongst them – including Regan Poole who had a great debut as a DM.

Sensational block from Regan Poole to stop Garcia's goalbound effort. Pereira forced into a save soon after. Nervy

Having already been named for the Welsh Young Player of the Year award aged just 17, the future bodes well for Poole as does his strong performance against City.
Here’s hoping he will now be able to make some consistent appearances with United’s U21s and work his way through the ranks. Well done Regan on your debut.
