Louis van Gaal has taken a whole host of youngsters with Manchester United to FC Midtjylland including two who are making their first appearance in the squad – Joe Riley and Regan Poole.

Both defenders have been playing with Man United’s U21s and due to multiple injuries and Cameron Borthwick-Jackson seemingly being rested for the trip, it’s a big opportunity for the pair of them.

Poole, 18, only got his international clearance last month so he has enjoyed an accelerated first few weeks as a United player which included making his debut for the U21s

As for Riley, he’s been a consistent member of the U21s for some time now and had an excellent performance against Manchester City’s U21s last week, so has been rewarded with a place in the squad by van Gaal.

Having so many youngsters in the squad means it will be a pretty young team to face FC Midtjylland but even without a lot of our first-team players due to injuries and being rested, we should have more than enough to beat the Danish side. If we don’t, we certainly don’t deserve to win the Europa League.
