Donald Love ineligible for Manchester United’s game against Shrewsbury

Manchester United will have to contend without Donald Love against Shrewsbury Town tonight as he is ineligible for the FA Cup.

Love played for Wigan in their 4-0 defeat Bury in November which means he cannot play for Man United at all during the competition this season.

With Matteo Darmian, Guillermo Varela, Antonio Valencia and Ashley Young all unavailable through injury, it means Paddy McNair is likely to start at right-back having played there for Northern Ireland in their Euro 2016 qualifiers.

It means that United have three natural right-backs and two back-ups unavailable for Shrewsbury. It’s almost unprecedented how bad our full-back situation has been this season ever since Luke Shaw broke his leg against PSV in September 2015.

Love did play like a deer in headlights against FC Midtjylland last week but yet more changes in a seemingly ever changing back five are making it very hard for us to maintain any sort of discipline or get any rhythm back into the team and David de Gea‘s absence will only make that worse.
