Rashford scored twice and created another at Old Trafford as Man United secured a memorable 3-2 victory.
Rashford has won a number of plaudits for the way he has hit the ground running in the first team and Carrick lavished praised on the 18-year-old.
“I have seen some debuts but none quite like that. It’s an unbelievable start for him.” said Carrick.
“There is going to be a lot of attention on him now, people are going to be looking at him because he has thrown himself straight into the spotlight which is great to see. He has just got to keep his head down and keep going.”
It has been a remarkable story for Rashford but Carrick is right; the hard work starts for him now.
His form won’t last forever and opposition defences will start to figure him out. Rashford will have to work on his game, continue to take chances as and when he gets them and generally work hard to make a success for himself at Old Trafford. That being said, he has made the best possible start to life in the first team.
