Manchester United refuse to comment on Jose Mourinho rumours – report

Manchester United have refused to comment on rumours that Jose Mourinho has signed a pre-contract agreement to replace Louis van Gaal as manager at Old Trafford at the end of the season.

A report from El Pais last week suggested that Mourinho has already signed an agreement to become the next manager of Man United.

However, a club official would not comment on the speculation when asked by Reuters on Sunday.

El Pais claimed that United would have to pay Mourinho £5m if they did not offer him a full contract by May 1st and another £10m if they failed to give him the job by June 1st. The agreement was reportedly made back in February.

Mourinho’s camp were making a lot of ‘noise’ over the Christmas period, with rumours suggesting that the Portuguese had sent a letter to United officials explaining how he would get the club back to the top.

Since February, Mourinho has maintained a relative silence on the matter. It looks for all the world that he has agreed something with United and it would be no surprise to see him in the dugout at the start of the next campaign.
