Hull City manager Steve Bruce has revealed that Nick Powell has picked up a thigh injury could see him ruled out for the rest of the season.
Powell, 22, joined Hull on loan this January but went there off the back of an injury at Manchester United and soon picked up another one.
Now, Powell’s latest thigh injury is one which might see him sidelined for the remainder of Hull’s campaign.
“Nick re-injured himself on Tuesday when he was just stepping up his training with us for a second day,” Bruce said.
“Unfortunately he pulled a thigh. I don’t think we’ll see him again before the end of the season.
“Normally you’re looking at three or four weeks for an injury like this.
“We might be able to see him again and I wouldn’t rule him out totally but it’s going to be difficult given the way he went over. He just pulled up and when you do that, it’s usually three or four weeks I would have thought.”
Powell really doesn’t get much luck at all with injuries does he? Having spent the best part of a season sidelined with a serious injury, he recovered from surgery and returned to action with Man United in the tail end of 2015.
He trained with the first-team and Louis van Gaal used in the UEFA Champions League but then suffered a fresh injury which saw him disappear once more. Now, he’s had two injuries on loan at Hull since January and has only made sporadic appearances.
We’ve got to start asking the question now about Powell – does he have a future at United or is it too late now for the 22-year-old to break into our first-team and have a career at Old Trafford?
