Borussia Dortmund’s Mats Hummels has revealed that he is losing sleep over his future.
Hummels, whose contract at Dortmund expires at the end of next season, has been linked with moves to Manchester United, Barcelona and Bayern Munich.
The German revealed that he has been giving his future plenty of thought in an emotional interview with Sky Germany.
“I’ve set myself a date by which I have to decide (about my future),” Hummels said.
“It’s a very difficult decision for me. I’m losing about half an hour’s sleep every night just thinking about it. When I finally make my decision, people will see why it has been so difficult.”
Louis van Gaal is a known admirer of Hummels and there were reports that United were close to signing him when the veteran coach first arrived at Old Trafford in 2014.
However, Bayern now look to be the front-runners to secure Hummels’ signature. The defender has family in Munich and Bayern would be able to offer him a bigger wage packet as well as a chance of winning the Champions League.
