Wayne Rooney impressed fans with an exceptional performance in midfield during Manchester United’s 3-1 win over Bournemouth in the Premier League on Tuesday night.
The 30-year-old was an assured force in the centre of midfield throughout and capped off his commanding display with a goal and an assist.
Man United fans, so often critical of the skipper this season, were full of praise this time around:
Rooney has some vision!

Rooney is still pure class. Puts 100% into every game and must start for England at the Euros #MUFC

The nature of today’s contest certainly played into Rooney’s hands: with hardly anything to play for, he was able to conduct the speed of the game against a Bournemouth side already on their holidays.
Nevertheless, Rooney grabbed the occasion by the scruff of the neck, acting as the catalyst for attacks with some splendid passing from deep.
Rooney’s future in a United shirt largely depends on how he performs in midfield. And while sterner tests will come, Tuesday’s display was a positive sign for the future.
