Manchester United have lodged a €35m bid for Breel Embolo but the player’s mother is unconvinced over whether her son should move to the Premier League, according to Sport Bild.

FC Basel forward Embolo, who is currently part of the Switzerland squad competing at Euro 2016, is widely considered to be one of the brightest young talents in Europe.

The youngster has attracted interest from Juventus, Barcelona, Wolfsburg and Bayern Munich but, in a surprise twist, it looked like newly-promoted Bundesliga side RB Leipzig had agreed a €20m deal for him, plus bonuses.

Sport Bild claim that everything had been agreed between the parties involved but Man United and Jose Mourinho have now complicated things by declaring their interest.

Mourinho has sanctioned a €35m move for Embolo and United are able to offer him higher wages but his mother, Germaine, is said to be reluctant to let her son move to England.

But Xherdan Shaqiri, Embolo’s Switzerland teammate, has apparently signalled his intention to ‘keep an eye’ on the 19-year-old. Shaqiri plays for Stoke City but lives in Manchester.

Mourinho is reportedly pushing for the transfer to happen but it is unlikely that anything will be confirmed until after the Euros. Embolo looks a promising talent and it is good that United are making swift actions in the market. Whether the move comes off remains to be seen.
