Ashley Fletcher set to join West Ham after rejecting Manchester United’s contract offer – report

Ashley Fletcher is set to join West Ham on a free transfer after he rejected a new contract offer at Manchester United, according to reports.

Sky Sports have recently reported the youngster will undergo a medical ahead of his proposed move to the Olympic Stadium.

Even though his contract at Old Trafford expires this summer, Man United will still be due a compensation fee as Fletcher came through the club’s youth system.

He scored inside two minutes at Wembley as Barnsley defeated Millwall 3-1 to claim a place in the Championship and found the back of the net nine times in 27 appearances during his loan spell at Barnsley.

With Ibrahimovic set to bolster our strikeforce, Fletcher may be looking for game time we won’t be able to give him at Old Trafford as Marcus Rashford is in front of him in the pecking order, but the club should be doing everything they can to ensure the talented striker doesn’t leave the club for good this summer.

United should be looking to tie down his future at Old Trafford, a loan deal would be ideal for him to pick up some more experience because Zlatan’s transfer is only a short-term solution as he enters the latter stages of his career.

He’s been very unlucky as a result of Rashford’s spectacular form, he would have earned his first-team promotion in November in United’s trip to Watford, but an injury allowed Rashford to warm the bench at Vicarage Road.
