Manchester United are close to announcing Paul Pogba’s world record transfer from Juventus with his £100m fee thought to be agreed, according to the Telegraph.
The club have allegedly finally agreed a fee with the Italian club for the Frenchman’s services which would easily surpass the world record £85.3 million Real Madrid paid Tottenham Hotspur for Gareth Bale in 2013.
Jose Mourinho, who was appointed Man United manger last month, has already completed the signings of Eric Bailly, Henrikh Mkhitarayn and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
He has been vocal of his interest in a fourth fundamental signing at Man United before he is able to rest and many believe Pogba could be on his way to Old Trafford.
Mourinho has done a brilliant job to get his transfers complete early and would have been hoping to complete a deal for Pogba before United’s opening game of the Premier League season against Bournemouth.
An announcement could be on the way as reports intensify and there is some optimism it could happen before the Community Shield against Leicester City, but many have refrained from making a prediction about a specific timeframe give the nature of the saga.
It would be an incredible signing at Man United and he would undoubtedly play at the heart of Mourinho’s exciting new United side after leaving on a free transfer as he grew frustrated with Sir Alex Ferguson.
