Manchester United fans were impressed with Ander Herrera after the midfielder put in another dominating display against Manchester City in the EFL Cup.
The Spaniard, having failed to cement his place in the first-team during Louis van Gaal‘s era, has shown fans what they have missed out on for the last two seasons at Old Trafford.
Herrera’s discipline and vision along with his consistency have made him one of the first names in the staring XI under Jose Mourinho and rightly so.
The fans were delighted with his performance and praised him in social media.
Basically Ander Herrera is the first name on the team sheet. Brilliant footballer as well as having the 'hard working' tag.

Love seeing Ander Herrera getting the recognition he deserves. The lad is quality and fits United, similarly to Evra. Captain material.

I loved @AnderHerrera the moment I first saw him play for us and only now people are understanding why!

Ander Herrera leads by example – such a professional, mature footballer. Herrera would make a fantastic captain. Should be a contender.

Cannot believe how Ander Herrera has grown as a player. He controlled that midfield, screamed at everyone. Future captain.

The 27-year-old’s intelligence has never been of any doubt, however his development as a holding midfielder has been quite astonishing.
Although he’s not a typical powerhouse, Herrera has matured into the team’s best defensive midfielder and has proven he can be relied upon.
He always seems to know what he is doing and his involvement on the pitch has definitely helped the United back line which was under tremendous pressure after their nightmare game against Chelsea. While the Spaniard is not amongst the biggest names in the dressing room, he certainly has the most impactful presence on the pitch and it would not hurt the other players to learn a couple of things from him.
