Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer feels Jose Mourinho should give Bastian Schweinsteiger a chance at Manchester United.
Mourinho seems set on not considering Schweinsteiger after he made it clear that the German midfielder would not be included in his plans.
Man United’s failure to dominate the midfield this season has been a major reason behind their poor form, and Neuer believes his former team-mate could help United play with more control in the middle of the park.
“I really hope that Bastian gets some consideration soon,” he said.
“We all know he’s one of the best midfielders in the world.
“He belongs on the field for Manchester United and not training individually.”
Schweinsteiger’s last game for United was in March, where he was taken off after picking up an injury and supporters haven’t seen him in action since.
Despite Mourinho’s attempts to offload the midfielder during the transfer window, the 32-year-old allegedly snubbed a move to Sporting Lisbon.
Since then, he has been made to train with the reserves and has been miles away from any first-team action. While he is not the quickest, Schweinstieger still remains one of the most experienced players in the dressing room and his intelligence is unquestionable, making him a candidate for damage limitation.
