Jose Mourinho sets his sights on €60million FC Porto striker Andre Silva – report

Manchester United have joined the race to sign FC Porto striker Andre Silva as Jose Mourinho looks to overhaul the current squad, according to Duncan Castles.

The 21-year-old has drawn interest from Europe’s top clubs following his impressive showings for Porto and Portugal.

He was called up to the senior national team in August after his brilliant showings at the U19s, u20s and u20s at international level, and went on to four goals in as many World Cup qualifiers.

Porto are said to be close to improving his current contract as Barcelona, Real Madrid and Manchester City are among a group of competing clubs interested in Silva’s services.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is contracted at Old Trafford until the end of the current campaign, with the option to extend his contract for another season.

Although Zlatan has performed well in the Premier League, at 35, his body won’t be able to keep up with the high demands of football in England and having to play multiple times a week.

Silva made history by becoming the youngest ever player to score a hat-trick for Portugal in a 6-0 win over the Faroe Islands last month and the Old Trafford hierarchy has been warned of the danger of missing out on Silva in similar fashion to Renato Sanches, who was sold to Bayern Munich.

He has a big future ahead and combined with the energy of Marcus Rashford up front, they could be a deadly asset in the Premier League under Jose Mourinho.
