Henrikh Mkhitaryan treated the watching world to another performance underlined by creative bravado during Manchester United’s 2-0 first leg win over Hull City in the League Cup semi-final.
The Armenian started on the left flank and placed himself at the heart of an enthusiastic – but ultimately fruitless – opening 20 minutes for the home side.
He later grabbed an excellent assist for Juan Mata‘s opener after 56 minutes, rising high to head across goal for the Spaniard to tap in.
A glance at his stats from the game reveal what was another enterprising performance.

This was, by all accounts, a far cry from Mkhitaryan at his best. The 27-year-old has struggled to replicate his creative brilliance on the left hand side so far, often failing to make maximum use of the space available.
That said, even on what was – by his lofty standards – a quiet night, Mkhitaryan inflicted some serious damage, combining craft with raw speed going forward against a patched-up Hull back four. He produced several moments of magic that simply bamboozled Marco Silva’s men, often turning away from chasing black and white shirts before firing an inch-perfect pass across the pitch.
United fans will hope to see the Armenian continue his spellbinding run of form against Liverpool on Sunday.
