Manchester United have no interest in signing Benfica defender Victor Lindelof, according to BBC reporter Simon Stone.
Reports claim breakthrough in negotiations over a pre-existing transfer clause could pave the way for him to arrive in England soon, however, speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live, Stone insists Man United have not yet moved for Lindelof and do not plan on making a bid.
Stone said: “It [Jones’ re-emergence] has [ended Manchester United’s interest in Lindelof], that’s the information that we keep being told.
“There is a lot of reports still about Lindelof in Portugal.
“But the word from here is that Manchester United have not bid and won’t be bidding.”
The main concern with Eric Bailly’s four-week absence in the Africa Cup of Nations with Ivory Coast would be that United needed someone to take control of their makeshift defence, however with Jones and Rojo in brilliant form, United have gone unbeaten and Mourinho has no reason to look elsewhere.
