Martin Keown was full of praise for Anthony Martial after his incredible performance in Manchester United’s 2-0 victory over Watford in the Premier League on Saturday.
The Frenchman was re-introduced to the starting XI at Old Trafford by Jose Mourinho as he was left out after setting up two goals against Wigan Athletic, with the Portuguese boss claiming he had to perform better.
However, he returned in perfect fashion, helping Juan Mata find the opening goal of the game in the first-half and then finished the game in the second-half after Zlatan Ibrahimovic played him forward on the counter-attack.
Speaking after the game, former Arsenal defender Keown heaped praise on Martial.
Martial has been pressurised by his manager and that’s pleasing, because he’s a great talent but he needs to start to show that in a United shirt,” he said.
“But now he’s scored, and that will do his confidence a world of good.”
He helped United extend their unbeaten run to 16 games in just his tenth Premier League start of the season under Mourinho after struggling to find consistent form this term.
Hopes are he can maintain his form as he’s registered three goals and three assists in his last five starts for United, and there’s no doubt that there’s more to come from him.
