Antoine Griezmann has been convinced to stay at Atletico Madrid past this season, according to reports in Spain.
AS claim Griezmann is happy at the Vicente Calderon as he feels highly valued under Diego Simeone, who has also promised to stay for next season.
Simeone is set to inform Atletico of his desire to fulfil his contract with them as he looks to guide the team into a new stadium.
Man United were known to be heavily interested in Griezmann’s services and were said to be ready to offer him the same salary as Paul Pogba.
Griezmann would have been an incredible signing at Man United, but recent reports claim United have already identified back up options should a deal not be reached.
Jose Mourinho has also proven he can be very persuasive in his first transfer window at the club, signing the likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Paul Pogba, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Eric Bailly without Champions League football to offer.
Should the Portuguese boss set his efforts on signing Griezmann this summer, there’s still a good chance we’ll see him in a United shirt linking up with good friend Pogba at Old Trafford.
