Bayern Munich striker Thomas Muller “intends to sign” for Manchester United over the summer following “repeated offers” from Jose Mourinho, according to reports.
It was reported over the January transfer window that Muller, used primarily as a second string option by Carlo Ancelotti this season, was unhappy with life in Munich.
However, according to Mundo Deportivo’s Francesc Aguilar, Muller has indeed agreed on a move to Old Trafford this summer following nine seasons at the Allianz Arena.
Mourinho landed Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s signature over the summer because he demands instant success. He is, after all, no dynasty builder, but instead the purveyor of immediate silverware: no transition, no ‘process’, only his proven method for success.
And the German appears to fit a similar mould of thought: this season has been one of strife and frustration for Muller, but the four preceding campaigns held witness to the 27-year-old claiming 102 goals for Bayern in all competitions. This man, placed at the masthead of any attack, virtually guarantees goals on a regular basis. United fans will, no doubt, observe this particular saga with interest over the summer.
